Paradise Before the Rain captures Waikiki stretching between brilliant turquoise water and an approaching canopy of storm clouds. From this sweeping aerial perspective, Honolulu’s shoreline, dense cityscape, and green mountain ridges come together in one expansive panoramic view.
The composition moves naturally from the patterned coral reef and scattered surfers in the foreground to the bright beachfront and layered architecture beyond. Rising behind the city, the Koʻolau Range provides a dramatic transition into the gathering clouds, balancing the energy of Waikiki with the untamed landscape surrounding it.
