Between Sea and Storm captures Waikiki’s turquoise shoreline and Honolulu’s skyline beneath a sweeping canopy of clouds. Viewed from above, the photograph brings ocean, city, and distant mountains together in a scene shaped by the contrast between coastal sunlight and changing weather.
Bands of blue and turquoise water lead the eye along the curving beachfront, where hotels and city buildings rise beside the sea. Beyond the shoreline, layers of development give way to mountain silhouettes softened by haze and distant rain. The broad cloud formations add depth and atmosphere, balancing the detail of the city with the open expanse of water.
The title Between Sea and Storm reflects the shoreline’s position between the luminous ocean and the weather gathering beyond it. Sunlit water, dense architecture, and a shifting sky create a layered portrait of Honolulu, capturing both the energy of the city and the natural forces surrounding it.
